Tyre, is a port in ancient Phoenicia, today’s Lebanon, where Europe was born, abducted by Zeus and brought to Crete. She gave birth to King Minos of Knossos and keeper of the Minotaur, half man-half bull. The great Phoenician civilization contributed so much knowledge and culture, that permeates not only the Mediterranean countries, but the entire world.
Today, our hearts bleed for these beautiful, outgoing, hospitable and lively people. A horrid event such as this, touches our human heart, no matter where it occurs. However, please allow the Greek part of me, to find this even more devastating. We have been trading and exchanging knowledge, customs, music, good will and food of course, with our ancient good neighbors, since the beginning of our time. Words can not express how we feel today, not only in Greece, but in all Greek communities, around the world.
Today we mourn our beautiful Lebanese brothers and sisters.

To break the actual metal chains, that bound a person to slavery in order to free them, is a condition we can all understand. Why, in that case, is this gesture not enough to secure their freedom? Racism still plagues, not just the United States of America but the entire planet. Perhaps, the root of the need to control and enslave people, hides in the emotional chains that keep us attached to self-destructive tendencies, due to an extreme level of insecurity. Insecurities that plague us from childhood. Let them go. Set yourself free. Then, we can all enjoy, true freedom.

Although the New Moon occurred on May 22nd, its thin, crescent shape was not visible from Earth, as we can see only one side of our Moon, due to their in-sync rotation. As it moves away from the Sun, the Moon should be visible tonight, on May 24th, near Venus that shines in the western sky at dusk January 1st to May 24th (source www.space.com). Hope you catch a glimpse of it! This siting is also important to Muslims world wide, as it marks the ending of Ramadan. They call this New Moon, Shawwal Moon.
