Athena – Αθηνά & International Women’s Day

Athens, the capital of Hellas (Greece), was named after the Goddess of wisdom Athena, after she defeated Poseidon (Neptune), the nebulous God of the seas. Her sacred animal is the wise Owl and her trademark the olive tree. A frustrated Poseidon pierced the sacred rock of Acropolis with his Trident and a salt water lake was created, a promise of water bringing abundance. Athena, wise and strategic, made an olive tree emerge, full of vibrant olives, a promise to always nourish. Her nurturing and strategic approach rightfully won.

Mastering the Divine

When you hear or read the words, spirituality, connecting to the divine, unconditional love and altruism, what do you really think? Do you think of a balanced world, were we may not all be the same but we are all equal? Do you think of this being utopic, unrealistic, downright ‘hocus pocus”? The great news here is that it does not matter what any of us think; what matters is what we feel and how we can, realistically, pull ourselves out of this ‘divine’ mess our world is in, where one part seems to exist to use tremendous energy in being unhappy and making everyone else, who wants to be happy, unhappy too! How can we, quickly, achieve this?

Μπορεί να μην ακούγεται ιδιαίτερα εντυπωσιακό η αλήθεια είναι, όταν λέμε η χρονιά του Βουβαλιού, όπως η χρονιά του Δράκου για παράδειγμα, αλλά να είσαι σίγουρη/ος ότι, αν μη τι άλλο, δεν θα περάσει απαρατήρητη! Οπως όλα, έτσι και το Βουβαλάκι μας έχει συν και πλην. Οταν έχει τις καλές του είναι εμπιστέψιμο, συγκεντρωμένο στο στόχο του, παραγωγικό μέσα από αργές αλλά σταθερές κινήσεις, ακούραστο, γλυκό και αισθησιακό. Επίσης αγαπά την φύση, την ασφάλεια και το γνώριμο. Ετσι την χρονιά του Βουβαλιού μπορούμε να δρέψουμε τους καρπούς των κόπων μας, να έχουμε ανοδική και σταθερή πορεία και να ασχοληθούμε με την μητέρα φύση. Οταν δεν έχει τις καλές του βέβαια, φαντάζεσαι… επιθετικό, αυταρχικό, καθόλου μα καθόλου δημοκρατικό και αφόρητα ξεροκέφαλο. Στο τέλος της χρονιάς, ο ‘παρτάκιας’ μπορεί να κερδίσει την μάχη, αλλά την Εποχή του Υδροχόυ που διανύουμε, θα χάσει τον πόλεμο. Διάβασε να δείς πως θα επηρεάσει το ζωδιό σου και αποφάσισε αν θα τρέξεις την χρονιά αυτή παραγωγικά ή όχι!

The Year of the Ox

The Chinese New Year follows the Lunar Cycle and this year it begins tomorrow, February 12, 2021. The fact that it coincides with the New Moon in Aquarius today, is of very interesting timing, with great prosperity potential over the next six months. Steadfast, reliable, hardworking and loyal, are some of the positive characteristics of the Ox. Out of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) this is the year of the metal Ox; metal adds the elements of strength, morality, ambition and independence to an already strong willed Ox. It is a Yin-receptive- year, meaning, despite the Ox tendency to have a one track mind, this year mental flexibility is possible to achieve. How does all this translate and help us?

St. Brigid Day – Imbolic

February 2nd, 2021, is called Imbolic. The Imbolic date is one of four midpoints between the solstices and equinoxes. It is also a pagan celebration marking a time of incubation, right before Spring rolls in. Just like a baby is in the beginning stages of growth in its mother’s womb, this time is the fertile ground in which the seeds are coming to life beneath the surface, not seen perhaps by the naked eye, but life is growing.

Imbolic is a festival rooted in Gaelic tradition, where Brigid, a Goddess of hearth, fertility and poetry was celebrated. The real life Brigid was born into slavery, in 451 A.C., in today’s Ireland, to a wealthy pagan father and a mother that was one of the first Christians. She was revered by all for her kindness, generosity and miracles. Her very admirable characteristic was being fiercely protective of women. The legend that surrounds her is not what matters the most; rather how a warm, generous heart can overcome the impossible.

Hope this inspires you to love life on this planet, enough to preserve it.
