Feng Shui
Fall/Autumn in the northern hemisphere and Spring in the southern one, are points in time where we do house cleaning. Can Feng Shui practically help with home cleaning and cleansing? Yes. If you understand what it actually is and how it can best serve you. What good is any tool, if you don’t know how to use it? In the following paragraph I will attempt to simply explain a multidimensional, ancient method of achieving harmony in our living or working spaces.
Feng Shui translates to Air Water, the essential elements for maintaining life on our planet. The most familiar to many method, trickles down to moving furniture around or putting the right decor or colors in our space to better the ‘energy’. True, as this is in small part an end result, based on and accompanied by, a complex mathematical and structural analysis and applied knowledge. If Feng Shui is a branch of the inner and outer space balance seeking ‘tree’, then this tree’s name is Kan Yu; ‘kan’=to endure, ‘yu’=world, these two Chinese ideograms put together refer to ‘geomancy’, ‘topomancy’, ‘topographical siting’, or loosely translate to the art of observing the ground by looking down at the earth and observing the sky by looking up at the natural phenomena’, along with the art of placing or arranging buildings or other sites auspiciously.
Sounds complex? It can be. Trusting a certified professional, just like you would trust your architect or engineer, is the way to go. What to do if one is not available in your area or you simply can’t currently acquire one? Identify objects in or outside, your living or working space that are in your way or make you unconformable. Store them and see how you feel after a few days or a couple of weeks. Same applies for clothes. Use a water filter, at least for your tap, a humidifier or purifier, depending on your conditions, to rid of what can’t be seen but can affect our overall well being. Eucalyptus, citrus essential oils or agar wood (oud oil drenched wood chips) and resin bits on burners clean the air and smell divine, Last but not least, de clutter, de clutter, de clutter… everything or everyone that ‘cramps’ your style!
Balance. Find it. Keep it.
