The Sky and Zodiacs for the…
…Month of December
Greetings to all!!! Some of you may not celebrate the Holidays, due to religion, customs or a different belief system altogether. If you do celebrate, you may do so in a traditional way, contemporary or have your own interpretation of how to celebrate the Holidays. In any case, what i like to keep from the Holiday Season, are the warm feelings that emerge from getting together with friends or family, donating time and resources to those in need or organizations that support such causes.
This December calls for a rather spherical presentation of events. You will notice that i changed the regular format of two paragraphs for each zodiac sign and opted for an astro-tip instead. This is due to a great number of life cycles coming to an end, on both a personal and collective level. Transformative Pluto is an extremely powerful presence. A total planetary socioeconomic regeneration is afoot, with Pluto’s aspects and transit via Capricorn, (2008-2023). By reading this analysis, you can not only get general information, but find the piece that directly refers to your specific circumstances. Picture a gigantic, 7.700.000 jigsaw puzzle and each piece corresponds to, yes you guessed it right, a specific individual on this beautiful planet of ours. Each piece is unique. Combined they form a picture. What do we want this huge “family” photo to reflect? Hope you each find your piece of the puzzle. Moreover, i hope it will play, even a tiny part, in illuminating your path to discovering your balance point and subsequent happiness.
Visit us again after December 25th, for a detailed overview of the New Decade 2020-2030.
Kindest wishes to all. Have a blessed Christmas and a truly Prosperous New Year.
Luckily, planetary transits are Not the cause of events, rather the reflection of our choices followed by consequent end results. This is good news, because it is up to us to undo our negative actions and reinforce the positive ones. Let us find out how to use December’s planetary aspects to seek and determine our balance point. Chanel this month’s adoptable and exploratory energy positively and enjoy long term prosperity.
Before I go into details regarding our solar system’s planetary interactions and how they relate to us, here is a very brief introduction of our planets in order of distance from the sun, closest to furthest, to the newcomers who are curious enough to visit but really have no clue about astrology and zodiac signs.
- Sun: center of our galaxy, associated with Leo, sign of creative force-Helios in ancient Greece, the god of light.
- Mercury: nearest to the sun and fastest moving, associated with Gemini and Virgo, signs of communication-Hermes in ancient Greece, messenger for the gods.
- Venus: next in line and second brightest star on our sky, associated with Taurus and Libra, signs of strength and beauty-Aphrodite in ancient Greece, goddess of love.
- Earth: following suit, the planet of life growth, associated only by element (earth) with Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn- Gaia in ancient Greece, the primal mother earth goddess.
- Moon: the earth’s only natural satellite, associated with the sign of Cancer, sign of nurture- Artemis goddess of hunting and a healer of women.
- Mars: the red planet, associated with Aries, sign of assertion and drive –Aris in ancient Greece, god of war.
- Jupiter: the largest planet of our system radiates double the light it receives from the sun, associated with Sagittarius, sign of expansion and illumination- Zeus, in ancient Greece the god of gods.
- Saturn: next the ringed majestic planet of order, associated with Capricorn, sign of duty and dependability-in ancient Greece the god Pan, protector of woodlands and shepherds.
- Uranus: the gas giant, associated with Aquarius, the sign of innovation- Aquarius or beautiful Ganymede, the son of Trojan king Tros, was taken to Mount Olympus by Zeus to act as cup-carrier to the gods.
- Neptune: a striking blue giant, associated with Pisces, the sign of healing and illusion- in ancient Greece representing the fish into which Aphrodite and her son Eros transformed
- Pluto: the yellow dwarf planet or huge asteroid, associated with Scorpio, the intense truth-seeker- he was called on earth by Goddess Artemis to kill Orion who wanted to destroy all animals.
DECEMBER 2019
December is a fun summer month in the Southern Hemisphere! It will warm our hearts in the Northern Hemisphere, as well! Through stable steps forward, new beginnings will flourish, under Saturn’s protective watch. This month’s motto; get organized, stay grounded, take action!
Jupiter, the ‘Santa Claus’ of our planetary system, continues to illuminate us, even from its new placement, December 2nd, in earthy Capricorn. Pluto played its power games during October and ended life cycles for good in November. Uranus was full of surprises, not always pleasant ones. This December a rambunctious Jupiter-Uranus alliance is a fair way to start fresh. This Jupiter-Uranus aspect will take place again eight (8) years from now, after the gentle giant enters earthy Virgo, July 26, 2027. Pluto and Saturn bring positive aspects to the mix.
A Jupiter-Uranus Blessing
“It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change”.
English naturalist, geologist and biologist
Charles Darwin “
A great number of us ought to be looking forward to this December. We said our goodbyes to long term partners and partnerships that are gone for good. Perhaps we removed these people from our lives because now we know, we can do better. Perhaps life just took them away, and there was nothing we could do. Some of us may still feel dizzy from the tsunami aftermath-like feeling, that seems to have swept over the entire planet, on both a collective and individual level. If you are reading this, you have survived! Pluto* entered Capricorn in 2008, an intense transformative transit that, over the last 11 years, changed the world as we knew it. Us as well. We are all familiar with the Global Financial Crisis, where so many people lost their properties, businesses and lives. (according to a University in Washington, global suicide rates increased on adults, by 6.7%, source Wikipedia). Another major planet, Jupiter*, enters Capricorn on December 2/3rd. Jupiter* also affects weather. From its new position, it sheds its light on this issue. Saturn*, the great teacher, rules Capricorn, as many of you know. It will stay in its natural sign until December 19, 2020. It calls on us to take these changes very seriously and do something positively effective about it. Yes, about Global Warming. We experience intense climate changes that affect agriculture, which in turn directly affects our primary need, survival. This month Jupiter* will stimulate, through conjunctions, both Pluto* and Saturn*. Simply put, use December’s opportune aspects with maturity on a personal level. Further the common good on a collective level. Prosperity will follow. As mentioned before, on December 2nd, Jupiter leaves its Sagittarius home base and moves for a little over a year- December 19, 2020- into earthy Capricorn. This would be a good time to mention that Jupiter’s generosity is not lessened in this traditionally conservative sign. It is sieved through the logic and caution shift. Not bad attributes, right? Same generous energy, different channel. Remember, Martin Luther King and David Bowie were typical, yes typical, Capricorns, to name just two. Highly creative, pioneering, spiritual and both forces to be reckoned with, despite obvious differences; deeply humanitarian as well. Tap into your respective positive characteristics and watch your dreams come true. On the 3rd Mercury sextiles Pluto*, secrets or important information regarding all types of affairs, come to light. Use it all wisely. Do not dispense it carelessly. This is the only way to avoid possible traps that may ferment in the following weeks and manifest negatively on the 20th, as Neptune* squares Mercury. On the 8th Venus sextiles Neptune*. Go for a ride with romantic love. Do not, however, allow illusive love to take you for a ride! Financially too! Missing the Sagittarius effervescence? On the 9th Mercury enters the fiery archer, just in time for travel, closing pending legal issues, expanding our knowledge and horizons. December 11, Venus, planet of love, money and beauty, conjuncts Saturn*. True love is rewarded. Superficial is not.
On the 12th day of Christmas, there is a Full Moon on 19 degree 52′ Gemini. Tap into its fresh, curious and youthful energy. This Mercurial sign is not just about transferring information in order to better communicate. It serves a higher purpose, that of comprehending an issue and coming to a mutually acceptable solution, when a situation calls for it. Keep this knowledge as a footnote. It can serve you well, with family and all holiday gatherings that follow. Those of you involved in politics, the law, do mind the ‘gap’. If you work against the common good, you will fall into the hole you have been digging. On the 13th Venus conjuncts Pluto* and Saturn* is close by 2 degrees. It will be a shame if possessiveness and misplaced passions overpower existing true love. Mars trines Neptune* on the same day. You will add fuel to the fire if you scheme. Using all this force negatively, would be bad timing indeed, with the magnificent Jupiter*-Uranus* trine on the 14-15th! Best fuel up that space shuttle, the sky has no limit for your brave hearts out there! the limit! Travel, innovation, innovation through physical travel or exchange of ideas, can bring us closer to our goals and dreams. The effects from this positively potent aspect will be felt a few days before and after the 14-15. Mars sextiles Saturn* on the 18,19 and 20th. Excellent timing to set the wheels in motion or solidify plans, depending on your project. Remember, from paragraph one, the Mercury square Neptune* aspect on the 20th? If the person/group/business deal seemed too good to be true, chances are it still does. It did not fool you! Because around the 3rd, you did your homework and kept the secrets, well, secret. Well done! Venus enters freedom loving Aquarius on the 21st. It is also an altruistic and friendly Venus. Just in time, to embody the true meaning of Christmas. Giving from the heart and not expecting a return. Welcome the winter solstice on the 22nd, as the Sun enters Capricorn and each passing day becomes a little longer and a little brighter. Mars sextiles Pluto* on the 23rd. Harness Saturn’s knowledge and wisdom. Translation; get organized, stay grounded, take action! However you choose to spend Christmas Eve, the 24th, enjoy the blessings of the season, and new, prosperous beginnings, through a wonderful Sun trine Uranus*. The New Moon and Solar Eclipse occur on the 26th, on 4 degrees Capricorn. Here is again December’s mantra, as one year or life cycle ends and a new one begins; get organized, stay grounded, take action! The abundant Capricorn energy helps us stay mature and proceed with care, in order to lock success down for the long run. On the 27th Jupiter conjuncts the Sun, abundance is the word. Mercury enters Capricorn on the 29th and trines Uranus* on the 29-30th, empowering us with opportunities through innovation and travel. A friendly reminder seems appropriate at this point. Uranus is at its last Retrograde stretch. Too much of a good thing is too much. Be carefree, but not careless. Be independent but not self absorbed. Accept change but do not force your new belief system on others. Last but not least, handle metal with care. Basically do not drink and drive. As we transcend from 2019 to 2020, Saturn* at 21 degrees Capricorn is about to embrace Pluto*, at 22 degrees Capricorn. These major astrological players are our guiding and stable stepping stones. As they join forces, use Saturn’s strength and Pluto’s practical intelligence to bring your masterpiece to life. 2020 is just around the corner. Have a great Holiday Season, a Merry Christmas and a truly Happy New Year.
Chiron is in retrograde motion at 1-5 degrees Aries until Dec. 13, 2019. Deeply buried wounds surface. Although Pluto* fortifies such conditions, its retrograde motion ended October 3rd, meaning it is time to collect. This December is all about embracing change and moving on. Consequently, those who have invested in healing wounds and moving on, will be the leaders of their life. The reward? Ask and you shall receive! Cardinal signs ( Aries March 21-23, Cancer June 22-24, Libra September 24-26, Capricorn December 22-24) and charts with points on cardinal signs on these degrees, embrace the existence of these wounds, allow them to heal and enjoy a life restoration.
Large (outer) planets and Rx-retrogrades; *Uranus turns retrograde August 12 to Jan 1st, 2020. *Saturn retrogrades April 29 to Sept. 18 and Pluto retrogrades Apr. 24 to Oct. 3. *Jupiter retrogrades April 10 to Aug. 11, *Neptune retrogrades June 21 to Nov. 27. Before we look at each Zodiac Sign for the month of December please read the following important brief paragraph regarding retrogrades (Rx).
Does mentioning retrogrades-Rx- make you uneasy? When planets are on a retro-party mode, they bring forth delays and upheavals. In the past, i did underestimate their affects and found myself swimming up against the current. When i realized what a waste of tremendous energy this was, not to mention exceedingly counterproductive, i decided to harness this dynamic to better my life. How? Instead of viewing these delays as blockages, I use them as a window in time to clear my mind, reevaluate goals, stop and smell the roses, identify and avoid traps! Remember, balance is always key, so do your best to not overthink any situation. Instead try to entertain the notion, that although difficult astrological aspects or transits, (like retrogrades, squares or oppositions), can indeed be challenging, more often than not, they serve as blessings in disguise!!
You may notice occasionally dates can seem to be one (1) day off. This occurs because calculations are based on Tropical Midnight Ephemeris, Time Zone EDT (04 west). Add or subtract hours, based on your Time Zone.
Here are the twelve zodiac sings for the month of December. As mentioned above, this month is about embracing change. Our negative side will block us. Our positive side will make us flourish. Choose sides! Get even more insight when you read both your sun sign and the one that corresponds to your ascendant. Enjoy!
