Welcome Spring on the

Northern Hemisphere!

We have spring equinox, on the northern hemisphere, Thursday, March 19th, at 11:50 EDT – 18:50 EET.

Change and transformation remain key words this month as well. Last but not least, look out for large corporations (Pluto) that control food, work with politicians, law makers and lobbyists to block earth/consumer friendly alternative agricultural methods, farmers markets, you know, the ‘little guy’. This unlawful behavior also creates a black market trade for rare and endangered animal species and all forest derived products. The irony here is, the devastating effect this has on OUR well being. Are we CONNECTED to our true needs or are we DEPENDENT on our addictive desires? What are you going to do about it? Something from the comfort of your home. You are the consumer. You direct supply and demand. Consume with a conscience*.

February was a month to put our financial and personal affairs (Venus) in order (Mars), while keeping our internal elements (earth, fire and water) in check. March until the 10th, highlights the culmination and closure of past efforts. A life cycle closes. This manifests through financial/legal issues (personal or work related) being solved once and for all, in or out of court, by finalizing paperwork or simply moving on.

Please, take a minute and read this month’s Giving Back 2020 section, regarding the current global concern about the Coronavirus* and an interesting connection to an amazing environmental journalist, Aaron Gekoski, who presents and produces eye opening wildlife and conservation films.

What alerted me to this journalist’s penetrating work? One of his striking, award winning photos, the boxing Orangutan, from the Wild Life Collection. Aaron is the founder of Raise the Red Flag, a global and on-going campaign to end cruel Wildlife Tourism*. These animals suffer through torture, in order to be trained to perform in the tourist shows for us. It is like the circus for the insane.. Part of this story is also connected to the global, illegal, endangered species trade. These animals are forcibly taken out of their natural habitats, to be used and abused by us, humans. They are primarily sourced out of Asia and some from Africa.

I wonder; the people that come in contact with the animals, as they beat them until they bleed (part of the ‘training’), could they also contract a disease from them?* Is it a coincidence that viruses like SARS, or the current CORONAVIRUS, come from Asia, one of the largest areas of illegal animal trafficking?

According to the official ECDC site, (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control), COVID-19, the 2019 novel coronavirus, is now named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), while the disease associated with it, is referred to as COVID-19. SARS-CoV-2, was identified in China at the end of 2019 and is a new strain of coronavirus that has not been previously identified in humans.

Where do Coronaviruses come from?

Coronaviruses are viruses that circulate among animals* but some of them are also known to affect humans. After they have infected animals, they can eventually be transmitted to humans*.

At the end of the day, you may not care about ethical trading, you may think global warming is a hoax, or that animals are there to serve us; in this case you definitely care about You. In which case you can visit a platform, like Raise the Red Flag, and inform yourself on which Wildlife Tourism Parks and Venues abuse the animals. To protect yourself.

Before i go into details regarding our solar system’s planetary interactions and how they relate to us, let me very briefly introduce our planets in order of distance from the sun, closest to furthest, to the newcomers who are curious enough to visit but really have no clue about astrology and zodiac signs.

• Sun: center of our galaxy, associated with Leo, sign of creative force-Helios in ancient Greece, the god of light.
• Mercury: nearest to the sun and fastest moving, associated with Gemini and Virgo, signs of communication-Hermes in ancient Greece, messenger for the gods.
• Venus: next in line and second brightest star on our sky, associated with Taurus and Libra, signs of strength and beauty-Aphrodite in ancient Greece, goddess of love.
• Earth: following suit, the planet of life growth, associated only by element (earth) with Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn- Gaia in ancient Greece, the primal mother earth goddess.
• Moon: the earth’s only natural satellite, associated with the sign of Cancer, sign of nurture- Artemis goddess of hunting and a healer of women.
• Mars: the red planet, associated with Aries, sign of assertion and drive –Aris in ancient Greece, god of war.
• Jupiter: the largest planet of our system radiates double the light it receives from the sun, associated with Sagittarius, sign of expansion and illumination- Zeus, in ancient Greece, the god of all gods.
• Saturn: next the ringed majestic planet of order, associated with Capricorn, sign of duty and dependability-in ancient Greece the god Pan, protector of woodlands and shepherds.
• Uranus: the gas giant, associated with Aquarius, the sign of innovation- Aquarius or beautiful Ganymede, the son of Trojan king Tros, was taken to Mount Olympus by Zeus to act as cup-carrier to the gods.
• Neptune: a striking blue giant, associated with Pisces, the sign of healing and illusion- in ancient Greece representing the fish into which Aphrodite and her son Eros transformed
• Pluto: the yellow dwarf planet or huge asteroid, associated with Scorpio, the intense truth-seeker- he was called on earth by Goddess Artemis to kill Orion who wanted to destroy all animals.

You may notice occasionally astrological dates can seem to be one (1) day off, (for example a planet enters a sign on the 12/13). This occurs because calculations are based on Tropical Midnight Ephemeris, Time Zone EDT (04 west). Add or subtract hours, based on your Time Zone.

Connection or dependency?

In short, keep the positive traits of Neptune and its offspring Pisces, (compassion, creativity, spirituality) and Uranus and its offspring Aquarius, (collective conscientiousness, respect for individuality). You can thus stay connected to your feelings and consequently be part of the greater emotional connection that forms the healthy living tissue of our society. Or choose to ignore your inner truth (give in to illusions, addictions, drugs) and remain emotionally dependent by being emotionally disconnected (arrogance, possession, self-righteousness).

Saturn in Aquarius and Age of Aquarius

Astro tip for all; Saturn positions itself in Aquarius from March 21 to July 1st and then from December 17, 2020 into 2021. Like mentioned in February’s Monthly Tips, this is like a rehearsal for the upcoming show, ‘The Age of Aquarius’! Saturn ruled Aquarius before Uranus. It is safe to say that it is well placed here. It intensifies the desire to achieve, through ingenuity and originality. Scientific potential is present and to a great extent, the infamous Aquarius humanitarian belief system as well. There is also an electrifying inner tension and stubbornness present. Parents or people of authority, have a chance to rectify strict or unlawful behavior towards their children or those under their care. Best do it before December 2020. Jupiter (expansion, legal issues) will also be entering Aquarius, and bring you face to face with your past deeds. Dimitra, largest planet in its asteroid constellation (Ceres) or Mother of Earth, is about agriculture and nurture. It will be at 11 to 22 degrees Aquarius all of March. It wants, through earth friendly and fair practices, to ‘feed’ the entire planet, the universe! This dwarf planet (after 2006), is inside Neptune’s orbit and between Mars’ and Jupiter’s orbit. You could say that an ‘Aquarius’-save the planet- is caught between controlling Capricorn-large corporations (Mars-aggression, Jupiter-law makers) and illusive Pisces -Institutions (Neptune)! Phew! Will David beat Goliath? It happened before.

What is the Age of Aquarius?

An Equinox, ( when night and day are equal), is the point where the Sun’s seeming orbit (as seen from Earth)-the ecliptic- crosses the celestial equator. There are two (2) equinoxes (points of conjunction) in one year. The Vernal Equinox, that begins in the Spring with the first zodiac sign of Aries and the Autumnal Equinox, that begins in Autumn with the seventh zodiac sign of Libra. The ancient Greek astronomer Hipparchus, discovered in 2nd century B.C., the phenomenon of the Precession of the Equinoxes; the Earth rotates around its axis, itself basically. This axis rotates slowly, (makes the Earth ‘wobble’), 1 degree every 71,8 years approximately. A full circle (360 degrees x 71,8) takes about 25,848 years! 360 degrees divided by 12 zodiac signs equals 30 degrees by sign, so 30×71,8=2,154 years is the time the equinox takes to move through one sign. The 25,848 yr cycle is the Great Year. The 2,154 yr cycle is the Great Month or Age. Due to the large time cycle, the exact date the Age Of Aquarius begins, is hard to pinpoint. Astrologers begun counting from the Neolithic period (12,000 yrs ago-10,000 to 8,000 b.c) or Age of Leo. This brings us to the year 2,000 (A.D. 1-A.D.), end of Pisces Age and beginning of Aquarius (for Jenkins it ended 21 Dec., 2012, P. Burlingame in 1994 and for Neil Mann it ends 2150). Considering the technological outburst between then and now, and to what extent our lives and daily habits are now dictated by technology and air waves (Uranus-Aquarius), it appears it has begun. This humanitarian zodiac sign wants to see technology truly used to better our quality of life, with respect to all living beings on this planet. The distance between this year (Saturn-Jupiter in Aquarius) and 2023 (Pluto- Global Transformation, in Aquarius), offers a great opportunity to all of us to do some serious soul searching and hopefully join the ranks of the people that operate from an altruistic angle. Eventually, there will be no room for the “takers”.

Mercury continues its retrograde (Rx) motion and enters as such, on the 4th, the sign of Aquarius until March 9/10th. It turns direct and continues its course in this altruistic air sign until the 16th. On the 16/17th it re-enters dreamy and illusive Pisces(*). When Mercury (communication) is in Aquarius (innovation), get ready to jump out of the box figuratively and literally! Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, is all about ingenuity, originality and sudden changes. It also rules the nervous system and electricity. Simply put; progressive ideas, new age practices and love for freedom are prominent. Dedication to a great cause and breaking down barriers is admirable and gallant. However, too much of a good thing is still, too much. Electricity charges. Overcharged and overheated discussions are in the agenda. If you are interested in seeing your plans through and not just arguing your case, keep your wording in check. Remember; Saturn(order), Pluto(rebirth), Jupiter(expansion) and Mars(aggression) are in impulsive, goal oriented Capricorn. Very intense indeed! Mercury is also connected to health, and the nervous system is under scrutiny this month. So is technology and everything connected to it (Uranus/Aquarius). In our day and age, technology is integrally connected to every aspect of our life. The Aquarius energy is urging us to think about this condition. Connection or dependency? Mercury sextiles Uranus on the 22nd. This is an A ha! moment. The Sun conjuncts Neptune on the 8th. We are still under the foggy Mercury retrograde motion, so double check everything, especially if you are dealing with legal issues. Venus, the planet of love, money and beauty, is very happy indeed in its natural placement in Taurus from March 5 to April 3. Taurus can be sweet, sensual, and seeks safety through material possessions. Being stubborn and possessive is also in the agenda this month. As is objectifying or holding on tight to a loved one. On the 4th it squares Saturn, creating tension with love and money. It conjuncts Uranus on the 8th and brings surprises with love and money. It sextiles Neptune on the 23rd. Love is in the air. Enjoy but stay grounded. The earthy Taurus energy should help. Venus sextiles north node in Cancer on the 10th. Time for closure or collect on karma, depending on your past deeds. Venus squared Pluto on February 29 and Saturn on March 4 but sextiles Pluto on March 29 and trines Jupiter on the 28-29 as well. If a personal, financial, tax or related issue was legally blocked, this might be a good time to lay it all out on the table and solve the issue.

There is a Full Moon March 9, in 19 degrees Virgo, directly affecting those with birthdays or points at 16 to 24 degrees of the Mutable signs ( June 6-16 Gemini, September 8-16 Virgo, December 8-16 Sagittarius, and March 6-14 Pisces). Astro tip during this Full Moon (6 days before and after); instead of gossiping, explore your literary talents. Do not take the easy way out. This moon opposes the Sun and Neptune in Pisces. It has sharp reflexes, it is helpful and seeks the balance between romance and practicality. Virgo is about health and the working environment, so it will illuminate such issues. It can also enhance low self esteem issues and nervous energy. The distance between the New Moon on February 23 and this Full Moon, heralds a project, new or longstanding and adds dimension to it. It trines Jupiter at 21 degrees Capricorn. Jupiter also sextiles the Sun on the 11th and adds positive energy to such projects, both business and artistic. Who else pushes our ideas and goals through? On the 14th, Pluto (Capricorn-earth) sextiles the Sun (Pisces-water) and Mars-Capricorn- sextiles Neptune-Pisces. A Capricorn-Pisces two step! Basically, at work and play, avoid foggy conditions. How? Allow the earth to keep water in shape, and water to nurture the earth. Balance(*).

The Sun enters enthusiastic, combative and passionate Aries on the 19/20th. This marks the Vernal equinox, and the beginning of a new astrological year and of course springtime in the northern hemisphere! Planning ahead is what you have hopefully done, as this is not a strong point for Aries. Mars, Aries’ ruler, conjuncts Jupiter March 20-22 and Pluto on the 24th. Its is combat time, for better or worst. Technology is in the middle of the ‘war zone’ as Saturn enters Aquarius on the 22nd. There is a New Moon at 4 degrees Aries on March 24. New beginnings, infused with Aries passion and assertiveness are in play. Perhaps a new and improved way to use technology for the collective benefit. The New Moon at 4 degrees Aries squares the north node in Cancer. Time for closure, especially if you have points in your chart here. Jupiter directly conjuncts Pluto 29-30-31 of March. There is a strong tendency to push forward and take risks with investments. Consult a financial specialist, as a desire for power and fanaticism are strong and can be the wrong motivators. Mars is in Aquarius from March 31-May 13. It meets Saturn on the 31st and into April/May. This is undoubtedly an unconventional, pioneering and outgoing transit for Mars. Having fun with friends and diligently applying ourselves to a project, is a positive outlet for such a quirky energy. On the other hand, over stimulation can lead to out of control, down right perverse, behavior. Cerebral approach to life is amplified. This, for example, can be a positive way to resolve an overcharged situation. Being too aloof and emotionally distant however, can be detrimental to an important relationship/partnership.
