Young New Moon or Shawwal Moon
Although the New Moon occurred on May 22nd, its thin, crescent shape was not visible from Earth, as we can see only one side of our Moon, due to their in-sync rotation. As it moves away from the Sun, the Moon should be visible tonight, on May 24th, near Venus that shines in the western sky at dusk January 1st to May 24th (source www.space.com). Hope you catch a glimpse of it! This siting is also important to Muslims world wide, as it marks the ending of Ramadan. They call this New Moon, Shawwal Moon.
Eid al-Fitr,
Festival of
Breaking the Fast
The astrological interest of this New Moon, May 22, is its connection to the next New Moon on June 21st. It carries the lessons that we have accumulated so far, due, but not only to, the Covid-19 outburst. A New Moon marks new beginnings. What lessons did we learn, on both a personal and more significantly, on a collective level? Are we ready to ‘give birth’ to a higher mental consciousness? It is interesting that the word ‘shawwal’, refers to carrying something from one place to another (it is the tenth month in the Arabic lunar calendar, when usually a female camel would carry its baby). Astrologically, this new world consciousnesses, is molded under the Saturn Rx-retrograde in Aquarius March 21-July 1st (more details in the May 14 Post-a fair warning from our planets). We have an opportunity, to positively remold our minds, hearts and behavior, towards each other and every living being we share this beautiful planet, with. We are interconnected, part of a social web, strong when we unite and fragile when we do not. Food for thought; to carve a marble statue, only to set it on clay feet, is futile. Truth, will keep us united and free. Seek the truth. It will set us all free.
If you are celebrating today,
Eid al Fitr Mubarak!
Wishing you a Happy Eid Mubarak!
